Tenerife really was the hotspot this week

As my Facebook feed started to fill up with picture posts of thermometers and car temperature readings, I did look to see how close we were to the record. Some records suggest that the highest ever recorded is 44.5°C (112°F), but records this week say we got to 45°C on Monday 16th. Cooler temperatures next week according to holiday-weather.com. If you can call 30°C cooler.
Attended professional football returned to the island this week when second division CD Tenerife hosted Sporting Gijon. There has been no crowd attended game at the Heliodoro for 531 days due to covid, but international fan club Armada Sur, which is made up of mostly British fans were raring to go for their first attended home game since 8th March 2020. Tickets were restricted to season ticket holders only because of the current restrictions. Tenerife got off to a winning start last week with an away win over Madrid club Fuenlabrada, but their first home game resulted in a goalless draw. Not the result they would be looking for but the fans happy to be back in the stadium and of course the bar just down the road. Anyone interested in going to a game whilst visiting Tenerife should visit the Armada Sur Facebook page for more details.
It's still a good idea to book your activities in advance before your arrival here in Tenerife as some companies have yet to return to business or sadly have closed for good. Siam Park is still booking four to five days ahead and hire cars are still in short supply. The Medieval Night show at Castillo San Miguel has now returned and some of the tours which were only operating a couple of days a week are adding more availability to their schedules.
